I am being treated for a bulging disc in my lower back that is pinching my sciatic nerve. For almost a year I had to deal with a pain in my butt that seemed to get worse with any activity I tried to do. I couldn’t stand too long without sitting, sit too long without laying down, lay too long without getting up and moving, or walk too long without having to stop and rest. It was very hard to find a comfortable position, and the comfort never lasted too long. Now that I’ve been getting treatments at Dr. Nelsen’s office, my pain rarely crosses my mind. I’m not constantly thinking about what to do to keep from hurting. I am so amazed that I can now go through a whole day without any complications from my condition.

Dr. Nelsen’s Massage-a-Teacher program is what finally pushed me to come in and see what he could do for my condition. I had already had surgery on my low back a few years ago but was still having to take anti-inflammatory drugs and pain killers to get through the day. The pain had even started spreading into my neck, shoulders, and upper back. It got to the point where I couldn’t even turn my head to the left to look beside me or behind me, and I was having unbearable headaches at least 4 or 5 times a week. I have been a patient of Dr. Nelsen’s for 2 years now and am more than pleased with the outcome. I am more flexible than ever and am no longer experiencing headaches. The Spinal Decompression treatments have allowed me to be more active than ever before and do the things I enjoy without pain. I’m so glad I’ve found something that works and wish I hadn’t neglected getting care sooner.

Employment Opportunities
In
a healthcare field, the doctor listens to the concerns of people who are
not
well all day long. One of the
Chiropractic Assistant's major role is to help the doctor serve the
patient to
the best of the clinic's ability. Therefore, the attitude of any professional healthcare assistant
is just
as much a part of their job description as physical duties.
While there may be
specific duties written for each position, when an employee has
completed their
daily responsibility or the doctor ask them to help with something
within the
clinic, each employee should have a "pitch-in and help" attitude instead
of a
"it's not in my job description" one.
The
Chiropractic Assistant is viewed by the patient as Dr. Nelsen’s Assistant and
as such should have complete understanding of their health and the role of
Chiropractic. Since the Chiropractic Assistant actually participates in
the prescription of treatment, complete understanding and confidence in the
therapy he/she is administering for the patient’s health is of utmost
importance. You will be responsible for patient education while
administering the prescribed therapy and should always end the session with
some sort of chiropractic “tip” for further education of health through Chiropractic.
The
Chiropractic Assistant is often the first contact a patient establishes with
the clinic. Your telephone technique is one of the most vital procedures
in the clinic, because it is the very first contact that most patients will
have with the office, and often with the Chiropractic profession. Often
it is your skill in handling the telephone call that can make the difference
whether or not the caller becomes a patient and receives help for their health
problems. The first contact with the office must be a positive one!
